The 22 Best Pizza Places in New York (per the NY Times)

Okay, we admit it. We're biased. We love New York. He is from New York; She has been visiting the Big Apple since she was a little kid. We raised our kids for almost a decade in a New York City suburb. And we return often for the best of theater, music, art, dance, restaurants, and pizza. Always pizza. Every trip.

That's why we were very excited when the New York Times published its 2025 list of the 22 best pizza places in New York City.

It should not surprise you that these excellent pizza restaurants are spread across New York's five boroughs (yes, even Staten Island). Excellent pizza is that ubiquitous in the greatest city on Earth. So, some of these "best of" places likely would be too distant to be available to you if you are simply visiting the city as a tourist. Find one or two wherever you are staying and enjoy.

Of course, one of the best ways to start a loud, boisterous argument in New York City is to proclaim a "best pizza place." New Yorkers are passionate, tribal. and famously opinionated about their pizza. They like the pizza they like and they are not shy about telling you why. (BTW, another good way to get into a fight in New York is to proclaim yourself a 76ers or Red Sox fan --- I wouldn't, even if you are).
